Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Technician to support low voltage infrastructure projects in warehouse settings. This role involves working at heights on lifts, installing wireless access points (WAPs), and handling Cat5e/Cat6 cabling systems. The technician will be part of a team focused on delivering high-quality structured cabling solutions for commercial and industrial clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.
  • Mount and configure wireless access points (WAPs) in high-ceiling warehouse environments.
  • Safely operate lifts and elevated platforms (Lift Certification required).
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams for cable routing.
  • Perform punchdowns, labeling, and cable dressing in MDF/IDF closets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installations and repairs.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety standards and wear full PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, boots, lanyard).
  • Collaborate with lead technicians and project managers to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in structured cabling or related field.
  • Familiarity with BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA standards and National Electric Code.
  • Lift Certification and OSHA 10 required; Lull Certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.

Skills

  • Cable pulling and termination (Cat5e, Cat6, RG45, RG11).
  • WAP installation and configuration.
  • Use of cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks, and conduit systems.
  • Fiber splicing and dressing (Ribbon/Single OSP/ISP).
  • Blueprint reading and structured cabling layout design.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Work Environment

  • Warehouse settings with ceilings up to 40 feet.
  • Work performed on lifts and elevated platforms.
