Mechanical Project Manager (Technical PM – Revit‑Focused)
Location: San Bernardino, CA (Hybrid)
Schedule: 2–3 days onsite during onboarding; ~1 day/week long‑term
Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 + bonus
Employment Type: Full‑Time, Permanent
About the Opportunity
Are you a hands‑on Mechanical Designer/Engineer ready to take the next step into project management—without giving up technical design work?
A growing, people‑first engineering consulting firm in Southern California is hiring a Mechanical Project Manager (PM Level 1) to support multidisciplinary building projects across education, municipal, healthcare, higher‑ed, and commercial sectors. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in Revit, enjoys mentoring junior designers, and wants real ownership over design + delivery on small projects.
If you’re looking for a hybrid role where your technical craftsmanship actually matters, this is it.
What You’ll Do
Blend technical delivery with project leadership (60% technical / 40% PM):
- Model directly in Revit and contribute heavily to mechanical design packages
- Perform redlines, updates, and DD/CD contributions for HVAC and plumbing systems
- Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, and internal team workflows
- Support projects from kickoff through construction completion
- Participate in client meetings, calls, and progress check‑ins
- Assist with construction administration (RFIs, submittals, coordination)
- Mentor and guide 1–2 mechanical designers on your team
Project Sectors You’ll Work In
A balanced mix of:
- K‑12 / educational (DSA)
- Municipal
- Healthcare
- Higher education
- Commercial
- No single sector dominates the workload.
Must‑Have Skills
- 5–7 years of mechanical/HVAC design experience
- Strong, recent, hands‑on Revit proficiency (non‑negotiable)
- Experience producing mechanical drawings and supporting DD/CD documentation
- Ability to coordinate directly with clients & internal teams
- Ability to mentor 1–2 junior designers
- Willingness to work onsite 2–3 days/week during onboarding
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to contribute to a technical/Revit exercise during interviews
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
(Not required — great additions if you have them.)
- Exposure to K‑12, municipal, or healthcare design work
- Knowledge of Title 24/code compliance processes
- Familiarity with Dynamo or Revit automation tools
- EIT or PE license (PE considered toward top of pay band)
- LEED or sustainability certifications
Why This Role Is Unique
- Not a paper‑PM job. You’ll design and model directly in Revit — your technical skill is valued here.
- Clear growth path. PM1 → PM2 → PM3 structure with expanding client ownership.
- Small teams, real impact. You’ll oversee 1–2 designers and shape project outcomes directly.
- Flexible hybrid culture with a supportive, mentorship‑driven environment.
This team values autonomy, technical excellence, and growth — not bureaucracy.
🚀 If You’re Ready to Step Into PM While Staying Technical…
…this is an opportunity to accelerate your career long‑term while still doing the hands‑on mechanical work you love.
