Composite Technician Level I, II, and III - Poway - 1st & 2nd Shift

Job Description

We are seeking Level 1, Level II and Level III Composite Technicians to join our team. Candidates will undergo a comprehensive training program. Working in a dynamic and loud manufacturing environment, you will handle various epoxy agents, perform repetitive and standard procedures, and assist in the fabrication, curing, and assembly of composite materials using pre-determined methods and sequences.

Responsibilities

  • Work with blueprints, templates, sample parts, and process sheets.
  • Assist in the preparation of molds and forms.
  • Mark and cut tape, woven material, honeycomb, adhesive, and similar materials.
  • Route, drill, trim, and sand parts to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.
  • Vacuum bag parts for room temperature cure and assist in the lay-up of composite materials to molds.
  • Fit and smooth successive layers of materials to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets, and voids.
  • Assemble aircraft components using structural adhesives, rivets, and threaded fasteners.
  • Prepare surfaces and paint composite and metal components, including bodywork and contour shaping.
  • Apply spray coatings using a high-volume low-pressure spray gun.
  • Assist in the development of shop aids for fabrication, trimming, and assembly.
  • Monitor expiration dates of materials and prepare proper mixes of resins and catalysts.
  • Maintain quality control records and ensure a clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Familiarity with composites, manufacturing, layup, lamination, and blueprints.
  • Experience with vacuum bagging, aerospace processes, autoclaves, fabrication, prepreg, and carbon fiber.
  • Ability to verbally communicate, read, and comprehend detailed blueprints and instructions.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools like rollers, paper cutters, scissors, and electric heat guns.
  • Experience with measuring instruments such as scales, protractors, and calipers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and stability in previous roles.
  • Respirator certification may be required.
  • Ability to work extended hours and lift assemblies weighing up to 50 lbs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $31.00/hr.
