Job Description
This Lab Technician role supports high-volume laboratory testing operations in a fast-paced, production-style environment. You will perform repeatable, high-throughput wet lab work that directly supports testing processes for product development and clinical applications. The position offers structured training, exposure to regulated environments, and a strong entry point into the medical device and biotech industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform wet lab testing, including drift and linearity testing, following established test methods and protocols.
- Prepare buffer solutions and other reagents, ensuring accurate measurements and consistent solution preparation.
- Maintain controlled testing environments to support reliable and repeatable test results.
- Execute detailed procedures across a wide range of test methods in a high-volume, production-style lab.
- Conduct visual inspection and imaging of components, meeting daily output expectations tied to statistical testing requirements.
- Document test results accurately and completely to support traceability and data integrity.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, including routine checks, basic upkeep, and readiness for testing.
- Support data entry activities and manage large datasets in line with structured data entry practices.
- Adhere strictly to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory safety practices at all times.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering, to support testing needs.
- Prioritize accuracy and consistency in all testing activities to support a quality-first culture and minimize rework.
- Participate in the structured training program and follow the 30-60-90 day ramp plan to achieve full productivity.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on wet lab experience in a structured, real-world laboratory environment, beyond purely academic exposure.
- Experience performing wet chemistry techniques, including solution preparation and buffer solution handling.
- Strong lab fundamentals, including proper use of glassware, accurate measuring, and precise solution preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a high-throughput or production-style laboratory setting.
- Experience with drift or linearity testing in a laboratory context.
- Experience supporting validation or qualification testing activities.
- Experience with visual inspection or imaging of components or samples.
- Experience working with large datasets or structured data entry processes.
- Exposure to regulated environments such as GMP or ISO-compliant laboratories.
- Basic proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office for data entry and documentation.
- Strong adherence to SOPs, with a highly process-driven mindset and focus on consistency.
- Solid understanding of laboratory safety practices and a strong safety mindset.
- High attention to detail and accuracy to support a quality-first culture.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Long-term internship experience in a wet lab or regulated laboratory environment.
- Experience working in a high-mix, high-volume testing lab.
- Familiarity with statistical testing requirements and daily output metrics.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, process-driven environment with numerous testing procedures.
- Interest in medical device or biotech industries and a desire to build a long-term career in these fields.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and scientists to support product improvements.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
