Journeyman Marine Electrician - Career Opportunity - San Diego, CA

Job Description

As a Journeyman Marine Electrician, you will install, repair, and connect equipment for all electrical services on ships without supervision. You will lay out, pull, lift, and install cables and conduits independently. Your role includes preparing work areas, drilling holes, grinding metal surfaces, and mounting equipment with minimal supervision. You will also test electrical equipment in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items. Additional related tasks may be assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and connect equipment for all electrical services on ships without supervision.
  • Lay out, pull, lift, and install cables and conduits without supervision.
  • Prepare work areas, drill holes, grind metal surfaces, and mount equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Test electrical equipment in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items without supervision.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Electrical installation and repairs
  • Reading schematics
  • Experience as a Marine Electrician or Electrician's Mate

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous shipyard or Navy experience working as a Marine Electrician or Electrician's Mate.
  • Over 5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician (Journeyman Level) is ideal, but candidates with 3 years or more will be considered.

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed at various shipyard facilities including NASSCO, BAE, CMSD, and NBSD. The position is on a 1st shift schedule from 6 am to 2:30 pm, with flexibility for overtime from Monday to Saturday if needed. Expect to work up to 10-hour days when needed.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $42.00/hr.
