Job Description
As a Control Systems Engineer 3, you will develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable codes and standards. You will lead the design and development of control systems architectures, ensuring that they meet user requirements for communications, integration, data acquisition, and redundancy. Your role involves directing the creation of various project-related documents, including wiring diagrams and specifications, and overseeing the specification and programming of instruments and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including periodic updates.
- Peer-review design work to ensure project quality objectives are met.
- Design control systems architectures to satisfy user requirements for communications, integration, data acquisition, and redundancy.
- Develop project-related drawing and documentation packages such as wiring diagrams and control panels.
- Specify instruments, valves, and other components, and program, test, and troubleshoot control systems and networks.
- Configure, program, test, and troubleshoot graphical user interfaces and data historians.
- Prepare detailed design specifications and develop project test protocols, including FAT, SAT, and SIT.
- Lead interactive design reviews with clients and their consulting engineers.
- Execute FAT, SAT, and SIT protocols and provide onsite support and service for local clients.
- Prepare recommendations to remediate or update existing control systems.
- Identify and assess new technologies, products, and services to reduce client costs or add value.
- Provide engineering support for system installation and commissioning.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of experience as a control systems engineer.
- Experience with Rockwell or similar platforms within the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or power industry.
- Demonstrated competence in at least four performance domains such as Control Panel Design, Control System Design, Instrumentation and Final Control Elements, Codes and Standards, and Control System Software Development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Undergraduate technical degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Ability to convert control systems to automation language (Control Logix and Wonderware).
- Experience with Control Logix, automation, Allen-Bradley, and biotech.
- Possession of a control systems engineering PE license (any state).
Work Environment

Engineers will work predominantly on local projects in San Diego, with limited travel required.
