Job Description
The Sanitation Worker ensures a clean, safe, and hygienic production environment by cleaning and sanitizing floors, equipment, and machinery in a food manufacturing facility. This role supports smooth production operations by maintaining cleanliness standards, properly disposing of waste, and following strict safety and sanitation protocols during an afternoon to late-evening shift.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize floors using appropriate cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Clean and disinfect production equipment and machinery to meet sanitation and food safety standards.
- Remove waste from production and common areas and dispose of it in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Monitor cleaning supply levels and request additional supplies as needed to ensure continuous operations.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures while performing cleaning tasks.
- Wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) during the shift.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs for equipment, machinery, or facility areas to the supervisor or appropriate contact.
- Assist with additional cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the facility as assigned.
- Work effectively on or around production and assembly lines in a food production environment.
- Support sanitation activities on a production line with 20 to 30 people packing and packaging products.
- Experience with cleaning and janitorial tasks in an industrial or production environment.
- Ability to perform sanitation and equipment cleaning in a food production or food manufacturing setting.
- Comfort working around production lines, assembly lines, and packaging operations.
- Understanding of basic sanitation and disinfecting procedures.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Capability to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duration of the shift.
- Reliability to work a consistent afternoon to late-evening schedule.
- Prior production experience is preferred, especially in food production or food manufacturing.
- Background as a kitchen worker, industrial cleaner, or similar role is beneficial.
- Familiarity with janitorial equipment and cleaning chemicals used in industrial environments.
- Ability to work occasional overtime and occasional Saturday shifts as needed.
- Strong teamwork skills to integrate smoothly into an existing production line of 20 to 30 people.
You will join a stable operation that offers a consistent 40-hour workweek with the opportunity for occasional overtime. The environment provides predictable scheduling, allowing you to plan your time while still having the chance to earn additional hours when available. You will work alongside a supportive team on an established production line, gaining experience in a structured food manufacturing setting.
Work Environment
This role is based in a food production and packaging facility where 20 to 30 people work together on a production line packing and packaging products. You will be integrated into this line environment, supporting sanitation around active production and assembly lines. The schedule typically runs from approximately 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm or 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, with potential for additional hours and occasional Saturday work depending on operational needs. The work involves standing, moving around the production floor, and working with cleaning equipment, supplies, and PPE in an industrial setting focused on food safety and cleanliness.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAN FRANCISCO, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.43 - $19.43/hr.
