Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of next-generation networking products such as routers, switches, firewalls, and servers. Your role will involve developing innovative mechanical solutions using sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast materials that comply with EMI, safety, and regulatory standards. You will also engage with cross-functional teams, including hardware, signal integrity, CAD, thermal, and manufacturing, to negotiate requirements and assess technical risks and trade-offs.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical solutions for networking products, including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
- Ensure designs meet system product requirements as well as EMI, safety, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate requirements and evaluate technical risks and trade-offs.
- Utilize sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast materials in design processes.
- Conduct tolerance analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical analysis.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Creo for mechanical design.
- Experience in the mechanical design of computer networking equipment products for data centers.
- Strong knowledge in manufacturing tooling for sheet metal, plastic, and die-casting.
- Expertise in tolerance analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in designing plastic and die-cast parts.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Mechanism design experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Bill of Materials (BOM), and Deviation processes; Agile experience is a plus.
Work Environment
The work environment is collaborative, involving cross-functional teams utilizing advanced technologies such as CAD and thermal analysis software. Engineers are expected to wear professional attire suitable for meetings and collaborative work settings. The role involves regular interaction with manufacturing teams and may require visits to production facilities.
