Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electronics Technician who will be responsible for dissecting and diagnosing technical issues across various electrical components, systems, and connectors. The technician will operate and maintain lab and electronic testing equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators. This role involves working directly with PCB assemblies, including soldering, inspecting, and verifying electrical traces and components. The technician will troubleshoot and resolve external connector issues with precision, support engineering teams in product development, validation, and verification processes, and document test procedures, results, and recommendations to improve system reliability and performance.


Responsibilities

  • Support troubleshooting and debug assignments under general supervision of engineers.
  • Support testing activities including root cause analysis, performing exploratory and formal tests.
  • Provide technical information and documentation as directed by engineering and service teams.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including PCB schematics, files, and Solidworks drawings.
  • Solder and de-solder PCB components per IPC J-STD-001 standards.
  • Report progress and status of assignments on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to supervisor as appropriate.
  • This is an onsite position requiring hands-on product and equipment responsibilities.

Essential Skills

  • Expertise in electronics troubleshooting and schematic interpretation.
  • Proficiency in soldering and using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and PCB equipment.
  • Experience in debugging and working with engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret PCB schematics and Solidworks drawings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with medical device design requirements is preferred.
  • Experience with video interfaces such as SDI, HDMI, DisplayPort, power supplies, USB interfaces, EMC/EMI, embedded systems including micro-controller and FPGA.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Solid experience in PCB, sub-assembly, assembly troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented and experienced user of MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to read Altera, Python, Linux, C#.
  • Familiarity with Altium, Solidworks.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position located in Santa Barbara, requiring hands-on product and equipment responsibilities. The role involves using machines, tools, and equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, waveform analyzers, and power supplies. The work environment emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and technical proficiency in a dynamic setting. Benefits include two weeks of PTO and six paid holidays.
