Job Description
The Test Technician supports an electronic manufacturing environment by troubleshooting complex electronic assemblies down to the component level and performing comprehensive mechanical and electrical testing. This role sets up and operates specialized test equipment, follows aerospace standards, and documents all test activities with a high level of accuracy and detail. The Test Technician works closely with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and quality teams to ensure products meet stringent performance and reliability requirements.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot electronic assemblies down to the component level, including printed circuit boards (PCBs), using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Test mechanical and electronic equipment using a variety of test equipment and fixtures as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering documentation to perform accurate testing and troubleshooting.
- Conduct environmental and reliability testing using vibration tables and thermal chambers.
- Use LabVIEW-based standards and interfaces to run, monitor, and interpret test procedures, where applicable.
- Build and support automated test equipment used in production and validation testing.
- Run test procedures from start to finish, ensuring all steps are followed and properly recorded.
- Document test procedures, test results, and any nonconformances in detail in accordance with AS9100 and IPC-610 aerospace and electronics standards.
- Follow aerospace and electronics manufacturing standards and best practices throughout all testing and troubleshooting activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, technicians, and quality personnel on the production floor to resolve issues and improve test processes.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying test issues, proposing solutions, and assisting in implementation.
- Maintain test equipment in good working order and report any issues or calibration needs.
- Communicate findings clearly to supervisors and engineering staff, including detailed descriptions of failures and corrective actions taken.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience working in an electronic manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies and PCBs down to the component level.
- Hands-on experience with electronics testing, including use of standard electronic test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Experience conducting tests using vibration tables and thermal chambers.
- Familiarity with LabVIEW standards or interfaces for reading and running test procedures.
- Experience documenting test procedures and results in accordance with AS9100 and IPC-610 standards.
- Experience building or working with automated test equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex assemblies and run test procedures from start to finish.
- Strong electronics troubleshooting skills in analog and/or digital circuits.
- Solid understanding of aerospace-related standards such as AS9100 and IPC-610.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing and documentation.
- Effective communication skills to work with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel.
- Bachelor's degree or trade school degree in engineering or a technical field preferred.
- Exposure to LabVIEW for reading and running test procedures is a plus.
- Experience in engineering support, repair, and PCB rework is beneficial.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Ability to learn new test setups and equipment quickly during training.
- Interest in long-term employment with potential for permanent placement.
The Test Technician works on the production floor alongside manufacturing engineers, technicians, quality personnel, and other technical staff in a busy electronic manufacturing facility. The role involves frequent interaction with test equipment, automated test systems, vibration tables, and thermal chambers. The position reports into the test function and focuses on hands-on work with electronic assemblies and test hardware. The facility operates multiple shifts, with three positions on second shift (approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) and one position on first shift (approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). New hires receive initial training on first shift until they are comfortable performing the work more independently on second shift. The organization maintains a steady workload and offers the potential to move into a permanent role, with a history of being very busy and not conducting layoffs.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Clarita, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.17 - $35.00/hr.
