Job Title: Lab Tech Sr. - 2nd Shift


Job Description

This non-exempt position involves performing tasks as a Sr. Lab Technician during the second shift. Overtime hours beyond 40 will be compensated at time and a half. The role requires a keen understanding of and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring accurate sample identification, data processing, and report generation.


Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and follow written Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Correctly identify analyzed samples and verify the accuracy of sequence for each batch.
  • Process acquired instrument data and generate appropriate reports.
  • Conduct the first review of GC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS analytical data according to each assay SOP.
  • Transcribe or upload results to the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for final review and certification.
  • Maintain proper and adequate Chain of Custody batch documentation.
  • Communicate with supervisors and promptly escalate emerging challenges.
  • Maintain and promote a safe, healthful environment for self and co-workers.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in chemistry and analytical chemistry.
  • Experience with GC/MS and LC/MS/MS instruments.
  • Ability to work safely with biological specimens, chemicals, equipment, and instruments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working in an analytical lab.
  • Experience working with biological specimens and/or analytical instruments like LC/MS/MS and/or GC/MS.

Work Environment

The position requires working during the second shift in a laboratory setting. Employees must follow safety protocols when handling biological specimens and chemical substances. The lab fosters a collaborative environment where communication with supervisors is crucial for addressing challenges. Dress code is appropriate for laboratory work, ensuring safety and compliance with health standards.
