Job Title: Manufacturing Technician

Job Description

As a Manufacturing Technician, you will support all aspects of the thin film manufacturing process. Your role includes coating, metrology, fabrication, parts cleaning and assembly, as well as incoming and final inspection. You will be responsible for data interpretation and entry, ensuring a commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and excellence. You will work as a team player across all operation and manufacturing departments, following instructions and procedures precisely while offering suggestions for continuous improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Handle fragile products and parts ranging from 1 millimeter to 450 millimeters and weighing less than 1 gram to 25 kilograms.
  • Maintain housekeeping, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
  • Perform product and machine inspections.
  • Analyze data and report abnormalities to the appropriate department.
  • Assemble fixtures, parts, and tooling, and calibrate tools and machines.
  • Clean products, parts, tooling, machines, and work areas.
  • Adhere to company quality, environmental, sustainability policies, and safety programs.
  • Utilize Microsoft Suite and other manufacturing programs.
  • Maintain satisfactory attendance and timeliness.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in thin film manufacturing or any manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with optical coating, metrology, disposition, cleaning, parts assembly, and fabrication.
  • Mechanical or scientific aptitude or interests.
  • Skilled in using material management systems, databases, Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and file directory architecture.
  • Some college education in STEM disciplines such as mechanical, industrial, or electrical engineering, or physics preferred.
  • Self-starter who works well alone and with limited supervision.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and execute detailed instructions and short correspondence.
  • Skilled in writing simple, informational, and technical correspondence.
  • Familiarity with quality, environmental, and safety programs/standards/regulations such as ISO 9001 and CAL OSHA.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methods/tools such as 5-s, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement cycles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experienced and certified forklift driver.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom, medical device, and optical manufacturing.
  • Experience in thin film coating.

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing setting with moderate temperature and noise levels, occasionally elevated. You must be able to remain seated or standing for the duration of the scheduled shift and handle delicate optical components and precision tools with fine manual control. The role involves performing overhead and elevated tasks requiring physical capability to maintain stability, reach, and control. You should be comfortable working with solvents, cleaning agents, lasers, sharp instruments, and high-temperature equipment, following all safety protocols. Visual acuity for close and mid-range tasks is necessary, and wearing a respirator, hairnet, face mask, gloves, and clean room suit is required when necessary. The position requires the ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Rosa, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
