Test Technician
Description / Responsibilities
- Design, build, and modify powertrain test fixtures to support development and validation activities
- Fabricate steel fixture components through welding, machining, and mechanical assembly
- Machine precision parts using manual mills and lathes
- Assemble complex mechanical systems and rotating equipment
- Perform electrical wiring, soldering, and fixture integration
- Execute manual and automated test procedures
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in test setups
- Collaborate closely with engineers during fixture design, development, and iteration
- Support test lab operations, prototype builds, and R&D activities
- Document test procedures, results, and fixture changes
Core Skills
- CAD design and interpretation of mechanical drawings
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Mechanical testing and troubleshooting
- Electrical troubleshooting and basic electronics
- Powertrain systems, motors, engines, and turbines
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CAD software proficiency: SolidWorks, NX, Fusion 360
- Test lab and R&D support experience
- Prototype build and fixture modification support
- Safe operation of rotating equipment
- Skilled use of hand and power tools
- Test procedure execution using Python, Linux, and command-line interfaces
- Test documentation and reporting
- Precision measurement tools: calipers, micrometers
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of South San Francisco, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
