Job Description

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phase testing of all complexities, as defined by CLIA. Your role will involve conducting specialized tests and analyses in various areas of clinical laboratory science, such as Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunohematology, Serology, Parasitology, as well as chemical and morphological examinations. These tasks will aid in the diagnosis and recording of laboratory test results.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report test results for all clinical laboratory procedures, both automated and manual, without immediate review by the director, consultant, or supervisory team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency, competency, and understanding of fundamental principles of clinical laboratory procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor and be accountable for test data, quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, proficiency testing, and all operations related to laboratory testing procedures.
  • Notify the supervisory team of any irregularities or factors that may influence test results.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and test methods as needed.
  • Monitor supplies and reagents, notifying appropriate parties of par levels.
  • Perform clerical or other duties of support staff/laboratory assistants as necessary, including phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in both automated and manual testing.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Generalist License.
  • Understanding of CLIA regulations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Clinical Laboratory Scientist License (California).
  • Ideally possess a Generalist License.
  • High School Education or General Education Development (GED) required.

Work Environment

The work environment involves being available for potential dates across three weeks, with a primary focus on Week 1. Candidates must be available to work a full schedule, including 12-hour shifts that may occur in the AM and/or PM. This on-call position requires flexibility, as hours will vary and include weekends. Professional attire or scrubs are required, and the position was created due to higher volume and the need for more coverage. This is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150.00 - $150.00/hr.
