Job Description

The Stress Engineer contractor will play a crucial role in supporting the immediate MRB surge and performing repair analyses to ensure the integrity of discrepant parts and maintain the build schedule. This position focuses on the design and analysis of Interiors components and assemblies, including seats, floors, shrouds, and compartments, which are integral to the spaceflight participant experience within the vehicle cabin.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis to ensure the integrity of components, assemblies, and systems.
  • Review, update, and create engineering analytical documentation for components and assemblies.
  • Develop and utilize finite element models, both global and discrete.
  • Play an integral role in the workflow release process for structural design.
  • Support review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design and load requirements.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure vehicle readiness for flight, including involvement in fabrication, implementation, and MRB activities.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in stress analysis and structural analysis.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Proficiency in using Nastran and FEMAP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with HyperX and aircraft modeling analysis.
  • Ability to support ramp for new Delta Class vehicles, intended to fly more frequently and at a lower cost than existing suborbital vehicles.

Work Environment

This position offers a remote or hybrid work environment based out of the TUSTIN site if local. The role requires adherence to a standard work week, operating on Pacific time, with no alternative work schedules (AWS). The position provides 2 weeks of accrued PTO, paid holidays, and accrual of 5 California sick days.

This is a Contract position based out of Tustin, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
