The Senior Accountant will serve as a Senior individual contributor within the accounting team, offering comprehensive support across Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), and financial reporting, with temporary coverage for Accounts Receivable (AR) during a leave of absence. This role is integral in maintaining accurate accounting records through journal entries, reconciliations, and financial data review, supporting month-end close and audit activities. The position demands strong accounting judgment, independence in a lean environment, and the ability to review work, identify issues, and escalate them to leadership as necessary. Over time, this role is expected to evolve into a subject matter expert (SME) position to help reduce operational and review workload for accounting leadership.
Responsibilities- Maintain accurate accounting records through journal entries and reconciliations.
- Support month-end close and audit activities.
- Provide temporary coverage for Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
- Utilize strong accounting judgment to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
- Contribute to reducing operational and review workload for accounting leadership.
- Engage in ERP-driven processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Take ownership of high-volume transactional AR and cash application processes.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Hands-on responsibility in general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Experience in month-end close processes.
- Prior experience supporting accounts payable processes.
- Temporary accounts receivable experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Manufacturing or inventory-based accounting experience.
- ERP systems knowledge (e.g., QAD or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
- CPA or CMA preferred but not required.
- Audit support experience and exposure to process improvement initiatives.
The role is fully onsite from Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM PST, in Valencia, CA. This is a salaried exempt position, offering a stable yet evolving environment in a mid-sized company where finance is highly visible and closely partnered with leadership. The team is small and collaborative, providing exposure to reporting, analysis, process improvement, and direct work with Controllers and VPs. The environment values accountability and focus, trusting candidates to manage their workday productively and independently.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.88/hr.
