Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP) - AM Shift

The Pathology Assistant performs gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens in a high-volume hospital pathology department. This role supports multiple clinical areas including the Breast Center, Same-Day Surgery, GI, and the Operating Room. The Pathology Assistant will work alongside an existing Pathology Assistant in a rotating schedule and will have access to a brand-new grossing station and dedicated workspace.

• Perform grossing of complex and routine surgical specimens.
• Independently manage caseload from multiple departments.
• Handle a wide variety of tissue types, including breast mastectomies and placentas.
• Process mixed surgical tissues from the OR, GI, SDS, and Breast Center.
• Maintain specimen integrity and ensure accurate documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with pathologists, histology staff, and lab personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
• Support occasional Saturday STAT cases as needed.

• ASCP Certification.
• Strong experience as a Pathology Assistant, with hospital experience preferred.
• Comfortable grossing complex specimens.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliability and flexibility for occasional Saturday coverage.

• Experience with pathology, tissue grossing, and tissue culture.
• Ability to work rotating shifts (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM and 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM).

The Pathology Assistant will work Monday to Friday with rotating weekly shifts. Week A is from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Week B is from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Occasional Saturday coverage is required, usually less than once per month and with typically one day's notice. The work environment includes a brand-new grossing station, dedicated workspace, and a strong variety of cases.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whittier, CA.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
