Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk with experience in handling hazardous materials. This role involves managing shipping and receiving operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SAP ERP systems, operate sit-down forklifts, and manage customer communications effectively.
Responsibilities
- Handle inbound and outbound shipments of hazardous materials in compliance with DOT, IATA, and CA Title 22 regulations.
- Safely operate a sit-down forklift for loading/unloading and material movement.
- Utilize SAP ERP system for inventory tracking, order processing, and shipment documentation.
- Prepare FedEx shipping labels and ensure all hazardous material documentation is accurate and complete.
- Coordinate with customers regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and special handling requirements.
- Maintain adherence to all applicable regulations including 49 CFR 172.704 and DGR 1.5 standards.
- Comply with CA Title 22 requirements for hazardous waste generation and disposal.
- Perform palletizing and shrink wrapping of shipments.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping/receiving hazardous materials.
- Proficient in SAP ERP systems and FedEx labeling software.
- Valid forklift certification with sit-down experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills for customer interaction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred.
- IATA Hazmat Shipping Certification.
- 49 CFR 172.704 / DGR 1.5 Training.
- CA Title 22 Hazardous Waste Generator Certification.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $28.00/hr.
