Job Title: Entry-Level Design Technician
Job Description
This entry-level design position supports work on a major Distribution System Plan (DSP). The Technician will assist in managing distribution design projects for less complex areas, act as a liaison between customers and construction teams, clarify work for field crews, and ensure designs adhere to company standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze field data for utility distribution projects.
- Support design teams with GIS mapping and documentation.
- Interface with construction teams to clarify design intent.
- Ensure compliance with company standards.
- Assist in preparing design packages for review and construction.
Essential Skills
- Experience with GIS software, such as GE SmallWorld and ArcGIS.
- Willingness to work outside for field data collection.
- Exposure to utility design.
- Ability to interpret basic utility construction standards.
- Familiarity with utility design tools, including ED/SW, FastApp, and SAP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two-year technical degree preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
Work Environment
The position is based in Denver, CO, with a requirement to work in the office five days a week. The role involves fieldwork for data collection and site verification, and collaboration with engineers, designers, and project managers. Office locations may be at different facilities.
