Job Title: Entry-Level Design Technician

Job Description

This entry-level design position supports work on a major Distribution System Plan (DSP). The Technician will assist in managing distribution design projects for less complex areas, act as a liaison between customers and construction teams, clarify work for field crews, and ensure designs adhere to company standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze field data for utility distribution projects.
• Support design teams with GIS mapping and documentation.
• Interface with construction teams to clarify design intent.
• Ensure compliance with company standards.
• Assist in preparing design packages for review and construction.

Essential Skills

• Experience with GIS software, such as GE SmallWorld and ArcGIS.
• Willingness to work outside for field data collection.
• Exposure to utility design.
• Ability to interpret basic utility construction standards.
• Familiarity with utility design tools, including ED/SW, FastApp, and SAP.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.

Work Environment

The position is based in Denver, CO, with a requirement to work in the office five days a week. The role involves fieldwork for data collection and site verification, and collaboration with engineers, designers, and project managers. Office locations may be at different facilities.
