CAD Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our team, supporting both the Electrical and Civil Transmission Line (T-Line) divisions. The successful candidate will assist in developing computer-aided drafting design solutions and prepare and revise engineering drawings of basic components. This role offers the opportunity to grow professionally within a top-rated ENR Transmission & Distribution practice that utilizes cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing drawings and revising existing engineering drawings from specific sketches or layouts.
• Prepare and revise plot drawings.
• Adhere to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
• Follow drafting practices of selected disciplines.
• Assist in drafting design and documentation for various projects.
• Utilize standard drafting detail programs.
• Contribute to continuous drafting detail improvement efforts.
• Research and recommend solutions to project concerns and design problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• 2-5 years of experience in AutoCAD and Microstation for Electrical CAD Technician OR 1 year of civil experience for Civil CAD Technician.
• Basic knowledge of commands in at least one CAD program.
• Ability to use higher-level commands and time-saving programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Self-motivated and eager to learn.
• Ability to meet deadlines and budgets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting technology or related field and zero to two years of related experience, or no degree with two years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• High School Diploma/GED with coursework in drafting technology or specialized CAD certification.
• Bachelor's Degree in computer-aided drafting/design or Associate Degree with a minimum of 1 year of civil experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge and experience in multiple CAD systems, including 3D.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
