Job Description
The Solar Construction Superintendent oversees the construction of commercial solar sites, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-schedule delivery of projects such as carport installations and small ground-mount distributed generation systems. This role coordinates multiple subcontractors on site, manages day-to-day construction activities, and ensures that all work complies with design specifications, electrical standards, and construction best practices.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all on-site construction activities for commercial solar projects, including carport installations and small ground-mount distributed generation systems.
- Coordinate and oversee multiple subcontractors to ensure work progresses according to project plans, schedules, and quality standards.
- Monitor construction progress daily, identify potential delays or issues, and implement corrective actions to keep the project on track.
- Ensure all construction work complies with design drawings, specifications, and applicable electrical and construction codes.
- Collaborate closely with construction management and project stakeholders to communicate site status, risks, and needs.
- Oversee construction supervision activities, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and supporting safe work practices.
- Verify that materials, equipment, and tools required for solar construction are available on site when needed.
- Support the implementation and adherence to safety protocols and procedures for all personnel on the construction site.
- Review and confirm that carport structures and ground-mount systems are installed according to structural and electrical requirements.
- Assist with on-site problem solving, addressing construction or electrical issues as they arise to minimize disruption.
- Document site activities as required, including daily reports, progress updates, and issue tracking.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in construction supervision, preferably within commercial solar projects.
- Hands-on experience in construction management, with the ability to oversee multiple subcontractors on site.
- Understanding of solar construction methods, including carport installations and small ground-mount distributed generation systems.
- Knowledge of electrical aspects related to solar installations and commercial construction environments.
- Strong superintendent management capabilities, including planning, organizing, and directing on-site activities.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Solid communication skills to coordinate effectively with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Strong focus on safety and adherence to construction and electrical standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with commercial construction projects, particularly commercial solar installations.
- Experience working on carport construction within a commercial or solar context.
- Familiarity with distributed generation (DG) solar systems and associated construction practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot construction and basic electrical issues on site.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, resources, and documentation for multiple concurrent activities.

Work Environment
This role is primarily site-based on active commercial solar construction projects. You will work outdoors and around partially constructed carports and ground-mount solar systems, frequently coordinating with subcontractors, trades, and other construction personnel. The position involves being present during core construction hours, with schedules aligned to project needs and milestones. Standard construction-site safety practices apply, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to established safety procedures.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Golden, CO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $53.00 - $55.00/hr.
