Hiring for a Controls Engineer in Bristol, CT



Job Description

This role involves supporting the Sales and Engineering department in designing Industrial Application and Process Control Panels. Responsibilities include developing Sequence of Operations, Component Selection, Control Panel Schematics, Fabrication Assistance, and Startup-Installation support. The position ensures all Control Panels carry UL-508A approval and specializes in Industrial Heater, Process Controls, Instrumentation, Pumps, and Motors. Majority of the panels are based on PLCs and HMIs, with work conducted in-house in Bristol, CT.


Responsibilities

  • Design industrial control panels, including component selection.
  • Ensure work complies with UL508a, NFPA 70, and NFPA 86 standards.
  • Create and verify Bills of Materials.
  • Develop wiring schematics and collaborate with Quality Control on testing procedures.
  • Work closely with the Sales Department to read customer specifications and ensure compliance.
  • Provide field assistance for startup and service work of various equipment and controls.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial PLC Control Panel Design.
  • Knowledge and experience with Industrial Controls, PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Experience with VFD applications.
  • Formal education such as BSEE or equivalent hands-on training.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.

  • Electrical and Mechanical aptitude.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to multitask on multiple jobs at different phases.
