Hiring for a Quality Specialist in East Lyme, CT
Job Description
This role is a hybrid of a specification technician and quality inspector, focusing on ensuring the accuracy of end item data packages for a critical customer program. The position requires verifying that every part used in product builds has the correct certification and lot traceability, ensuring that router/traveler signatures match documentation, validating material versions and their expiration status at the time of use, and working cross-functionally to address missing or inconsistent records. The work involves extensive use of Excel and document verification, rather than traditional Quality Engineering tasks.
Responsibilities

- Ensure router/traveler signatures match associated documentation.
- Validate material versions and expiration status at the time of use.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to rectify missing or inconsistent records.
- Utilize Excel extensively for data verification tasks.
- Follow traceability chains including lot numbers, certifications, expirations, and revisions.
- Conduct cross-functional follow-ups including operator signatures and verifying lot numbers.
- Self-manage tasks using checklists and status tracking to avoid rework and missed steps.
Essential Skills
- Quality inspection and extreme documentation accuracy.
- Comfort with heavy, repetitive, and high-stakes data verification.
- Analytical mindset capable of following traceability chains.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and working with PDFs/Word documents.
- Quality control, quality assurance, and document control experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to describe a personal system to prevent mistakes in repetitive work.
- Professionalism in interacting with operators to request corrections or signatures.
- Capacity to interpret data and identify inconsistencies.
- Familiarity with revision control, part number variants, and multiple BOM versions.
Work Environment
The role is based in an onsite manufacturing setting, requiring frequent interaction with operators and multiple departments to resolve documentation issues. The tools used are straightforward, including Word, PDFs, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications. The company fosters a strong work-life balance and an employee-first environment, with a culture that includes frequent employee events and monthly catered lunches. There is a discretionary bonus based on performance, and the work environment emphasizes close collaboration rather than corporate bureaucracy.
