Hiring for an HR Director in Hartford!

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Director to lead our HR department and serve as a strategic partner to leadership. This role is critical in shaping a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and driving HR initiatives that support our mission and values.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead internal investigations and manage employment-related legal matters.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and staff on HR policies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with union representatives and management to resolve labor relations issues.
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage employee performance, compensation systems, and benefits administration.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and implement development programs.
  • Maintain HRIS systems and ensure accurate personnel records.
  • Represent the organization in unemployment claims and hearings.
  • Provide 24/7 HR support for emergency operations as needed.
  • Lead EEO/Affirmative Action compliance and initiatives.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experienceas an HR Director or HR leadership role.
  • Proven expertise inunion labor relations,internal investigations, andpolicy development.
  • Strong background inrecruitment,employee development, andbenefits management.
  • Proficiency inHRIS systems,compliance auditing, andtalent management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with open enrollment processes and ADA/FMLA administration.
  • Strong analytical skills for reporting and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with EEO and Affirmative Action regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in building morale and employee engagement.
