Business Development Specialist

Job Description

As a Business Development Specialist, you will proactively identify and create new business opportunities through consistent outreach. You will re-establish historic relationships and build new sales pipelines across product lines. Your role will be pivotal in introducing, selling, and upselling products and services to prospective clients.



Responsibilities

  • Conduct outbound outreach through calls and emails to prospective clients.
  • Drive sales by converting inbound inquiries and leads into confirmed sales orders.
  • Compile, prioritize, and qualify prospective customers and sales leads from various sources such as tradeshows and social media.
  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships with key accounts, reviving dormant accounts and cultivating new ones.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and progress within the CRM system.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to transition qualified leads to in-person meetings.
  • Maximize CRM capabilities to track sales activities and generate detailed reports.
  • Support sales efforts by providing technical guidance and detailing product features.
  • Provide customers with quotes, pricing, availability, delivery schedules, and credit terms.
  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Communicate regularly with the National Sales Manager to drive market share growth.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitive offerings, and product updates.
  • Attend trade shows and distributor events relevant to assigned accounts as necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 4-year relevant college degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of inside sales experience
  • Experience selling products with technical applications
  • Ability to drive change and influence outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Potential for travel, estimated at 5% for trade shows and customer visits
  • Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or telemarketing


Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work environment with potential for a flexible schedule. The typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Once established, there is potential for a hybrid schedule, with 2-3 days working from home and the remainder in the office. The role includes opportunities for bonuses.
