⭐ What You’ll Do

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you play a key role in the patient journey—from screening to diagnostics to ensuring readiness for physician evaluation. Your responsibilities will include:

• 🔬 Performing specialized ophthalmic testing tailored to each patient and condition.
• 👁️ Conducting preliminary vision and eye health screenings for physician review.
• 📋 Reviewing charts, clinical notes, and patient conditions to determine appropriate testing methods.
• 🧭 Positioning patients safely and comfortably for all exams and procedures.
• 🛠️ Setting up, operating, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment used for imaging, diagnostics, and testing.
• 🤝 Assisting with patient mobility, including transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and exam tables.
• ⚙️ Identifying equipment issues and coordinating with repair technicians.
• 📑 Maintaining quality control, service logs, and inventory according to department protocols.
• 🩺 Supporting additional clinical functions to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care.

🔧 Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, glaucoma, or related fields
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
• Experience working in Epic Systems (EPIC)
• Strong competency in manual refraction

🎯 Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma required
• Additional certification strongly preferred
• Previous hands-on clinical experience required
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume medical environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, CT.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
