Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects within multiple sectors. This role involves managing complex projects, ensuring they align with organizational and executive objectives to improve operational and financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of complex projects within multiple sectors that span one or multiple lines of business.
- Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
- Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure alignment to the achievement of strategic objectives.
- Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge in construction cost estimation and project financial projections.
- Identify areas of scope creep to mitigate risk and handle design errors and project change orders.
- Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature project management capabilities.
- Prepare estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project.
- Coordinate with general superintendents and foremen to review revised project labor hours and set expectations for completion.
- Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes.
- Manage day-to-day project activities and resources, communicating additional requirements and impacts with the Vice President of Construction.
- Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews.
- Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues, communicating across leadership.
- Act as an internal quality control check for the project, managing ongoing quality control and participating in quality issue resolution.
- Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration, or litigation, as needed.
- Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract.
- Understand project specifications for installation and ensure the project team understands the requirements.
- Develop and manage all aspects of the project from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Monitor, track, and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project and program teams.
- Deliver appropriate and effective executive-level communication.
- Ensure projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of experience in the electrical construction industry.
- 5+ years of experience with full product lifecycle management and understanding of development lifecycle.
- Strong leadership, diplomatic, and motivational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Project Sight, Procore, Blue Beam.
- Experience negotiating with vendors and subcontractors.
- Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals.
- Experience leading projects to on-time, on-schedule, and within budget.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- E1/E2 license preferred.
- Experience with change orders, budgeting, scheduling, RFIs, submittals, take-offs, buyouts.
- Experience in commercial, healthcare, and multifamily project types.
- Experience with Accubid, BlueBeam, Procore software.
- Project management skills and experience in electrical circuit, electrical wiring, construction, installation, bidding, low voltage, and conduit.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in the office with occasional visits to job sites. The role involves working on projects primarily in Fairfield, New Haven, Hartford, and Litchfield counties.
