Job Title: Insurance Collector
Job Description
The Insurance Collector is responsible for monitoring accounts to determine the timeliness of payment and collection. This position collaborates closely with the Billing team and Collections Supervisor to ensure efficient claims processing and resolution.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and resolve dashboard for claim kick-out edits.
- Manage accounts receivable through system modules and reports.
- Resubmit appeals and follow up on unpaid or incorrectly processed claims.
- Answer inbound calls for insurance-specific inquiries.
- Collect on insurance carrier accounts.
- Assist with process improvements to enhance claims resolution.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of work on assigned tasks.
Essential Skills
- 1-2 years of medical billing experience.
- Diploma or GED required; Associates degree preferred.
- Experience navigating insurance websites such as Availity.
- Ability to read Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
- Knowledge of claims denials and appeals process.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Existing medical collections experience in physical therapy, DME, and workers' compensation claims is nice to have.
- Knowledge of CPT/modifiers and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes/modifiers.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Experience in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
