Job Title: Associate Staff Scientist
Job DescriptionAs part of the antibody discovery group, this individual will play an essential role in supporting early-stage discovery programs through the purification and qualification of antibody samples. This position requires routine cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and meticulous recording of work in detailed electronic notebooks.
Responsibilities
- Plan, perform, analyze, and document laboratory experiments.
- Execute purification workflows primarily focused on antibodies using various chromatographic techniques.
- Take primary responsibility for high-throughput, small-scale purification using magnetic beads and handlers.
- Conduct mid-scale purification using either magnetic beads or a protein maker (24 columns at once).
- Utilize Acta systems for large-scale polishing.
- Perform buffer exchange, quality control, and characterization of purified samples.
- Handle a large volume of purification samples with high attention to detail.
- Troubleshoot and optimize purification workflows to enhance efficiency.
- Maintain laboratory instruments and supplies.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in chemistry and experience with protein purification.
- Familiarity with various characterization methods such as SDS PAGE, CE-SDS, SEC, and Western Blotting.
- Experience using Microsoft software.
- Bachelor's degree with 3-5+ years of experience or a Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience in Bio, BioChem, Chem, or a related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with liquid handling automation or high-throughput purification automation is preferred.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques for sterile protein purification is a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility and enthusiasm in a fast-paced biotech environment.
- Ability to collaborate with various functional groups.
Work Environment
This is a lab-based, onsite, full-time position. The role involves working with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The dress code is appropriate for laboratory work.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, Delaware.
Compensation:$36.06
