Product Engineer

Description

Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for assigned product line(s), ensuring engineering excellence and innovation. Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Sales, and Technical Services to support product development and lifecycle management. Continuous Product Improvement: Drive product enhancements and resolve quality issues through the Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) process. Engineering Change Notices (ECNs): Create and approve ECNs for product updates and engineering releases. Common Solutions Implementation: Work with component/system leads and other Product Engineers to implement standardized solutions across product models. Design Calculations: Perform and validate engineering calculations to ensure product compliance with design requirements. Cost Reduction & Optimization: Lead initiatives focused on cost reduction and assembly process optimization. Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of design engineers, assigning tasks and ensuring project milestones are met. Resource Coordination: Engage and coordinate with remote teams and contractors as needed. Customer Feedback: Conduct site visits to mining operations to gather application insights and customer feedback. Product Configuration: Maintain and update product line options and configuration documentation. Safety Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities align with Sandvik’s safety management program. Your Profile Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in product engineering or a similar role. Strong knowledge of mobile industrial equipment; experience with drilling equipment is a plus. Proficient in CAD software (e.g., UG/NX, MEDUSA). Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as TeamCenter. Familiarity with machine steel fabrications, manufacturing techniques, and assembly tools for bolted and welded components. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams effectively. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
