Job Title: Medical Assistant

Job Description

The medical assistant will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions. The role is integral in promoting health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment, supporting the clinician and care management teams in assessing, managing chronic diseases, examining, and treating the patient population. Responsibilities include performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.



Responsibilities
  • Perform quality team-based patient care under clinician supervision.
  • Support clinician and care management teams in patient assessment and chronic disease management.
  • Conduct laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
  • Assist in the examination and treatment of the patient population.

Essential Skills
  • High school diploma required.
  • 2 years' experience within a clinic/back office healthcare setting.
  • Medical Assistant diploma OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR 3 years of MA experience.
  • Phlebotomy experience required.
  • Ability to take vitals, with manual vitals preferred.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Active driver's license required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality control requirements.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of universal precaution procedures in medical safety practices.
  • Phlebotomy skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience with TriMed EMR preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to assess emergencies and act accordingly.
  • Flexibility to float from one location to another as patient queue demands.
  • Independent, responsible, and organized.

Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite in a clinic located in Aventura. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:45 pm, and every other Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm. Permanent opportunity with travel reimbursement of $0.67/mile when traveling between clinics. If asked to float outside of core locations, a $20 gas card is provided. The employer is willing to train on manual vitals.

This is a Permanent position based out of Aventura, Florida.
