Job Title: Emergency Response Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking an Emergency Response Coordinator in Bartow, responsible for managing emergency response calls, documenting and notifying relevant parties, and coordinating with the operational lead. This role involves communication with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal staff to ensure a quick and efficient response during environmental emergencies. The position is predominantly office-based, with occasional field visits for client meetings and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assign, manage, and guide the Emergency Services Response Team to address environmental emergencies.
- Provide guidance to team members and contractors for spill clean-up, legal compliance, liability protection, and client value optimization.
- Maintain constant communication and documentation with team members, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Conduct federal and state regulatory notifications and reports.
- Perform technical field and office work as required.
- Prepare cost estimates to ensure recognized costs and meeting of required margins.
- Meet with customers to understand the scope of work and potential impact on costs and execution.
- Coordinate with Waste Management personnel to ensure proper waste disposal.
- Work with management to schedule work and ensure availability of manpower and equipment resources.
- Follow up with operational teams and customers to ensure satisfactory completion of work, resolution of issues, invoicing, and collection.
- Prepare technical reports based on field notes, laboratory reports, and other data.
- Ensure health and safety by following policies, processes, and acting safely.
- Ensure responders understand tasks and offer corrective actions for effective task completion.
- Regularly be on-call after business hours to coordinate and perform emergency response projects.
- Participate in continual training and education programs.
- Communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, clients, and team members both verbally and in writing.
- Uphold the ethics and values of the company.
Essential Skills
- Experience with environmental, industrial services, waste disposal, or emergency response projects.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT and RCRA regulations.
- Understanding of spill response terminology and principles.
- Knowledge of hazards associated with hazardous wastes, substances, and materials.
- Knowledge of Project Management Software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal skills for leadership, management, negotiation, and problem-solving.
- Excellent judgment and discretion.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing environments.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in physical sciences, geology, engineering, environmental science, or emergency management.
- Friendly, courteous, customer service-oriented, professional, and outgoing demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision.
Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based, with 80% of time spent in the office and phone-based tasks. Periodic field visits are required for client meetings and administrative tasks. The role involves being on-call one week per month, with responsibilities for after-hours emergency response coordination.
