LOCATION: NEWPORT NEWS, VA or CHARLESTON, SC

Job Title: Shipyard Fitter

$45/hour & $140 in per diem

Job Description

As a Fitter/Fabricator, you will be responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding operations. You will be expected to refer to general instructions to select equipment, set up, and lay out materials to be welded. Additionally, you may repair or rework parts to restore them to required tolerances if they have become distorted as a result of welding operations. Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures may also be required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural welding on carbon steel and stainless-steel components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings
  • Execute multi-pass welds in various positions with precision and consistency
  • Operate welding equipment and tools safely and effectively
  • Inspect welds for quality and compliance with specifications
  • Collaborate with fitters, engineers, and supervisors to meet production goals
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in a non-climate-controlled facility

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
