Yard Jockey/Forklift Driver

Job Title: Yard Jockey

Pay: $18-19 per hour to start

Job Description

This position primarily involves repositioning loaded and unloaded containers between the docks and yard to prevent traffic backups. It also includes operating forklifts and moving goods around the warehouse site.

Responsibilities

• Reposition loaded and unloaded containers between the docks and yard to ensure no traffic backup.
• Ensure all trailers placed in the dock are correctly locked.
• Provide yard checks as needed for trailer inventory.
• Perform pre- and post-shift equipment safety inspections.
• Inspect containers as needed.
• Operate a forklift as needed.
• Load and unload containers and carry boxes up to 50 lbs.
• Perform warehouse maintenance and cleaning; support in overall facilities maintenance during low work periods.
• Follow company safety and compliance instructions.
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience jockeying containers, a minimum of 53 feet.
• Forklift experience, certification preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Previous warehouse experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a warehouse setting where you will need to traverse and access various storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
