Job Title: BESS Principal Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled BESS Principal Engineer to lead the planning, designing, and execution of energy storage projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong project management skills to ensure the delivery of best-in-class energy storage solutions. The ideal candidate will have pertinent experience in the energy storage field.

Responsibilities

  • Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects.
  • Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions.
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts.
  • Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers.
  • Influence project teams on engineering tasks.
  • Stay updated on project progress and technical issues.
  • Manage project milestones and recognize risks.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment.
  • Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls.
  • Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions.
  • Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
  • Handle other assigned duties as needed.
  • Travel 25% of the time for project-specific duties.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design.
  • Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters.
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections).
  • Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with IEC standards.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Juno Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00/hr.
