Job Title: Phlebotomist
Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. The phlebotomist plays a vital part in ensuring efficient specimen collection and processing.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate work areas and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections clearly and courteously to patients.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match the script with 100% accuracy.
- Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
- Follow procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department training sessions.
- Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
