Job Description
We are seeking a skilled microbiologist proficient in aseptic lab techniques to join our team. The successful candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for microbial method and media validation, establishing microbial specifications, and interpreting microbial results, including organism identification. You will be required to stay updated with current microbiological regulations, trends, and technical aspects in the industry while supporting the ongoing processes of the Quality Control Laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Act as SME for microbial method and media validation.
- Establish microbial specifications and interpret microbial results.
- Stay updated with current microbiological regulations, trends, and technical aspects.
- Support ongoing processes of the Quality Control Laboratory.
- Participate in audits and work with FDA or other regulatory authorities.
- Interact with clients on a technical basis, advising and consulting on testing methods and results.
- Perform microbiological testing of raw materials and finished products using Petri film and agar plate methods.
- Conduct media preparation and sterilization, sample preparation, and support Out of Specification (OOS) investigations.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor and Management.
- Willingness to work holidays and weekends as requested by QC Lab Management.
- Proficiency in microbiology, GMP, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience in quality control and environmental monitoring.
- Ability to provide scientific and strategic leadership for the microbiological department.
- Capability to perform validation on new and existing products and raw materials.
- Competence in overseeing Environmental Monitoring (EM) of facilities, water, and compressed air.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience testing microbial samples in a cGMP environment with drugs, dietary supplements, and medical devices.
- Preferred 5+ years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of direct microbial laboratory experience or a Master’s degree with 2-3 years of direct microbial laboratory experience.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and general microbiology test methods.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Fluency in software such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a good command of English.
The position offers a flexible schedule with working hours approximately from 9 am to 5 pm. The role requires a 1-step onsite interview process. The work environment is within a growing nutraceutical company, known for its gummy dietary supplements, offering long-term growth opportunities.
