The Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for promoting and selling Daikin Applied's equipment, systems and services within the plan & spec market and by generating design build opportunities. Responsibilities include educating mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, developers, general contractors and building owners with regard to the benefits of the Daikin Applied product line.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Obtain sales orders by contacting and calling on mechanical contractors, developers, end users, general contractors and. Sales effort will target commercial buildings, industrial plants and all phases of selling equipment. Ensure that the obtainment of new equipment sales growth, mix and profit objectives is met.

2. Call on consultants to influence their designs to include Daikin product features and benefits through basis of design specifications.

3. Achieve sales quotas and annual sales plans. Obtain and close sales on a monthly basis.

4. Responsible for consistent planning and affecting sales activities to provide maximum selling time, with minimal travel and waiting time, and to create new business through organized prospecting to increase Daikin Applied's share of business from assigned accounts.

5. Create short-term and long-range planning for certain projects by an intricate progression of customer contacts, and cooperation with other Sales Engineers, Sales Agents, Districts, Regions and Headquarters.

6. Analyze customer needs and present several solutions using Daikin's products, systems and service.

7. Partner with sales team members in pursuing strategic opportunities.

8. Actively maintain opportunity pipeline within Salesforce to create accurate sales forecast.

9. Routinely follow up on open bid plan & spec opportunities and communicate with sales team to ensure overall sales strategies are adjusted to increase probability of success.

10. Maintain current knowledge of competitive products and system characteristics, including knowledge of local competitive pricing and must be able to apply economic consideration: first cost, operating cost, owning cost, to projects on candidate is working.

11. Complete financial analysis of equipment benefits and present overall life cycle costs and total cost of ownership to influence sales process.

12. Perform take-offs of plans and specifications, develop and price the estimate; write the proposal and bid the job with selections of Daikin Applied equipment utilizing competitive advantages.

13. Work with operations team to prepare and submit all technical data for approval. Review of all submittals and orders prior to processing.

14. Oversee order entry and execution, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

15. Service the customer after the sale and during installation to insure complete satisfaction and to promote future business by assisting with obtaining drawing approval, timely release for fabrication, credit and legal coordination, providing customers with timely shipping information, job site visits with customers, service coordination and occasional factory visits to help sell and execute specific products or projects.

16. Consistently manages multiple projects.

17. Ensures receivables for customers are kept to a minimum.

18. Participates in the local ASHRAE chapter.

19. Assists with recruiting and training of new Field Sales Engineers.

Education Requirements

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree inEngineering or related field

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
