Job Description
As a Medical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in preparing patient samples for testing and determining the acceptability of specimens and results. You will perform various laboratory tests and procedures using advanced techniques to ensure accurate and reliable outcomes. Your expertise will contribute to delivering quality patient care by reporting accurate and timely test results.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patient samples for testing and determine acceptability of specimens and results.
- Repeat specimen testing as necessary to ensure accuracy.
- Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing.
- Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry.
- Perform manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and Blood Bank analyses.
- Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis.
- Report accurate and timely test results.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities.
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
- Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action.
- Verify accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated.
- Bachelors’ degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related science.
- Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification from ASCP, NCA, AMT, or AAB.
- Experience in Blood Bank procedures.
- Experience in hospital or clinical laboratory settings.
- Proficiency in Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and/or Microscopy.
- Ability to interpret test results and apply them to patient care.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

This position is 100% onsite in the blood bank lab on the 6th floor. You will be part of a team environment working the third shift from 10:00 PM to 06:30 AM, five days a week with every-other-weekend rotation on the same shift.
