Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer or Designer to join our team in Florida. In this role, you will support power distribution projects with a focus on enhancing the reliability of power distribution in Southwest Florida. This position involves both engineering and fielding work, working with residential and small commercial landowners to assess and meet their power distribution needs.
Responsibilities
- Drive to customer sites to document current conditions and assess needs.
- Perform engineering calculations and design work, such as new power runs, equipment relocation, lighting, overhead to underground conversion, and overhead lines relocation.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to utility standards.
- Use design software packages like BOUD, Bentley Open Utility Designer, Smallworld, Maximo, and AutoCAD.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, OR 2-year Technical Degree related to electrical and/or power distribution, OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in Power Distribution or Telecom.
- Experience in the electric utility industry with knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems.
- Ability to use design software packages and general construction knowledge.
- Understanding of basic engineering theories, principles, and practices.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with quality control processes.
- Familiarity with engineering research and design evaluation.
- Ability to present recommendations effectively.
- Ability to interact with diverse individuals from various backgrounds.
Fielding work is conducted in Lee County, while engineering and design tasks can be performed from a home office, provided you are within commuting distance of Lee County. The team is part of a 200-person power group in Florida, with a supportive and dynamic work culture. The Tampa office, a new 1900 sqft space, offers a great work environment.
