Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Site Controller/Senior Accountant to manage and oversee our accounting department's operations. The ideal candidate will maintain our accounting policies and procedures, manage outsourced functions, and ensure the effective operation of our accounting team to meet departmental goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage outsourced accounting functions, if necessary.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, ensuring an adequate organizational structure.
- Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and collection of accounts receivable.
- Process payroll efficiently and ensure timely completion of periodic bank reconciliations.
- Ensure timely debt payments and maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
- Issue timely and complete financial statements and coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring company performance and calculate financial and operating metrics.
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts, report variances, and provide significant issue reports to management.
- Provide management cost reports and financial analyses for capital investments and pricing.
- Coordinate information provision for external audits and monitor debt levels and compliance with covenants.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting and tax filings.
- Handle Human Resources responsibilities including recruitment, insurance, workers' compensation, FMLA, employee relations, and compensation & benefits.
Essential Skills
- Experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in managing general ledger, balance sheet, financial statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Expertise in human resources and compliance, including tax compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in a major company or division of a large corporation.
- Preference for candidates with manufacturing financial experience.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based with an expectation of occasional travel to company affiliates. Weekend or evening work may be required. We offer a relaxed environment within a stable company supported by solid management.
