Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer


Job Description

This role involves developing, managing, and executing various engineering projects, including theme park attractions such as roller coasters, water flume rides, animatronics, and more. You will collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, and ride control engineers, performing design reviews and reporting to Facilities Asset Management and other stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Perform job captain duties on projects ranging from small to large scales.
  • Engage in design, component specification, engineering and hazard analysis, manufacturing support, installation, acceptance testing, and post-turnover support.
  • Manage general project management tasks.
  • Mentor engineers and provide additional support to ensure compliance with design workflow processes, standards, and codes.
  • Work with minimal supervision and confer with leaders on unusual matters.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum five years of proven experience in the design of heavy mechanical equipment such as large conveyance systems, automotive, or large robotic systems.
  • Strong relationship skills with technical groups and multidiscipline teams.
  • Strong partnering skills with stakeholders and customers.
  • Proven leadership skills with good coaching abilities.
  • Proficiency in engineering and design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to perform classical and/or computer-based engineering analysis using hand calculations, FEA software, or MathCAD.
  • Experience utilizing design standards including AWS, DIN, ASTM, SAE, and ASME standards.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum three years proven experience with specific design standards or equivalent and ASTM F24.
  • Five years of amusement industry mechanical engineer design experience with gravity coasters, round rides, dark rides, and omni movers.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA is preferred.

Work Environment

This position requires working 100% in the office. Candidates must be willing to work on 2nd and 3rd shifts for extended periods if necessary. The role involves collaboration in a team-focused environment, utilizing advanced engineering technologies and equipment.
