Job Title: Field Technician


Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Field Technician to join our dynamic team. This full-time role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with construction or mechanical experience to transition into landfill gas well maintenance. This person will travel between Florida and Georgia for project mainly- home on weekends! Initial projects are between St Cloud and Wildwood, FL. Our comprehensive training program will equip you with the necessary skills to succeed. The position is primarily outdoors, with occasional weekend work based on demand.


Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks for Gas Collection & Control Systems (GCCS) on various landfills and project sites, including pump repair and well maintenance.
  • Maintain monitoring equipment and report issues to Program Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with the customer's on-site staff to perform work and report any field issues discovered during monitoring activities.
  • Undertake labor for piping and Operations & Maintenance projects as assigned.
  • Assist with construction tasks such as well raising.
  • Participate in flare maintenance activities and learn control systems.
  • Adjust and tune wells using an Elkins Envision gas meter, which involves extensive walking (approximately 5-7 miles per day).
  • Conduct surface scanning using a methane analyzer, walking a serpentine path around the landfill, covering approximately 30 miles over 2-4 weeks.
  • Track field data using an iPad or MESA tablet and enter it into Excel sheets weekly.
  • Engage in pipe fusion (1"-4", manual) and lay HDPE pipe for wells.
  • Assist with pump maintenance and service.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in the field, sciences, or environmental background.
  • Safety-oriented mindset due to working around methane gas on a landfill.
  • Proficient in both field and office work.
  • Experience with Excel, report writing, or data management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Former military experience is a plus.
  • Travel, Hazwoper, Construction, Groundwater, Hazardous material, Landfill gas, gas pipeline, Environmental field, Environmental science experience is beneficial.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to move and lift 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with gas meters such as Elkins Envision or GEM2000/GEM5000.
  • Experience with excavators, skidsteers is a plus but not required.

Work Environment

The position operates Monday to Friday, with potential for Saturday work in emergencies or upon client request. Travel typically involves leaving Sunday afternoon and returning Friday afternoon. The role is predominantly based at landfill sites, with 90% of time spent on such sites and 10% on industrial pipe projects. Technicians will walk approximately 5-7 miles per day checking wells. Support extends to sites in FL, GA, and AL. Entry-level technicians will primarily work in well fields, with potential to progress to Sr Level Technician or Construction Superintendent/CQA roles. A company vehicle is provided for independent work after training, usually within 1-2 months.
