Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and a passion for designing and developing new machinery. You will work in a collaborative environment where communication and teamwork are essential.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a team environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members.
- Evaluate mechanical components to ensure they meet design specifications.
- Create design layouts, assembly drawings, and detailed drawings.
- Ensure all design work complies with local, federal, or international standards.
- Work hands-on in the shop to assist or lead production teams.
- Demonstrate knowledge of motors, servos, linear actuators, brakes, and pneumatics.
- Verify machine functions align with specifications.
- Use measuring equipment to inspect and verify component functionality.
- Perform repairs and troubleshoot machinery.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Document parts lists, change orders, and drawing files.
- Record changes made on the shop floor and deliver 'as built' assembly drawings.
- Maintain project schedules.
- Setup, run, and debug machinery for start-up.
- Interface with customers or other suppliers to ensure machine functionality with other machinery.
- Exhibit effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Utilize effective computer skills for various tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5-10 years of experience as a mechanical engineer for production equipment.
- Experience in the design and development of new machinery from customer specifications.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design software.
- Strong mechanical engineering skills.
- Effective computer skills.
- Experience with mechanical design and engineering principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The role involves working in a team-oriented environment where communication and collaboration are key. You will be expected to engage in hands-on work in the shop and interface with customers and suppliers. The work environment is structured around maintaining a safe and clean workspace, following established procedures and regulations. The position requires effective use of computers and design software to accomplish tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ormond Beach, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
