Job Title: Resident Project Representative

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Resident Project Representative who will be responsible for observation and reporting for the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) on the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction of the $2B A-2 Reservoir. This project is a critical component in Everglades Restoration and is considered a world-class project.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily with SFWMD staff.
  • Observe and report on a variety of geotechnical activities performed by the USACE Contractor and/or USACE.
  • Observe USACE Contractor management of stockpile materials and preparation of dam embankment materials.
  • Observe placement of embankment materials.
  • Review USACE design engineer plans and specifications.
  • Review USACE Contractor submittals, including RFIs.
  • Review both USACE Contractor QC and USACE QA data.
  • Participate in weekly project progress meetings.
  • Participate in SFWMD progress meetings.
  • Observe, review, analyze, interpret, make recommendations, and report on all geotechnical-related matters associated with construction of the project.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in similar large civil projects involving mass excavation and movement and placement of earthen materials.
  • Experience with SFWMD and/or USACE projects.
  • Experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, and construction management.
  • PE license.
  • Familiarity with ASTM methods for testing and reporting for earthen materials (density, grain size, consolidation, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • MS in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (preferred).
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret large civil plan sets and specifications.
  • Familiarity with USACE Definable Features of Work (DFOW) QC system.
  • Knowledge of typical construction means and methods associated with mass excavation, processing, stockpiling, and placement of earthen materials.
  • Prefer familiarity with USACE Engineering Manuals (EMs) and other USACE guidance manuals related to the placement of earthen materials or earthen dams.

Work Environment

The position is based out of the West Palm Beach office and requires daily travel to the project site, which is 40 minutes each way from the office. A company truck is provided.
