Job Title: Denials Specialist
Job Type: Open-Ended Contract
Location: 100% Remote (Excluding AK, AR, DE, HI, ME, MS, NM, OK, PR, SD, VT, WI)
About the Role
We’re seeking a Denials Specialist to join a fast-growing, mission-driven healthcare company focused on reversing type 2 diabetes through innovative telehealth solutions. This is not your typical denials role—you’ll need strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to build relationships with payer contacts to resolve complex claim issues. This is a remote, open-ended contract position with long-term potential for top performers. If you're tech-savvy, Excel-proficient, and passionate about solving problems, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Investigate denied claims using payer portals and internal systems (e.g., Athena).
- Collaborate with internal Revenue Cycle Specialists to determine root causes of denials.
- Categorize unpaid amounts by denial reason (e.g., copays, deductibles, coding errors).
- Correct and resubmit claims to payers.
- Maintain detailed tracking and documentation in Excel/Google Sheets.
- Communicate directly with payer representatives to resolve issues and build strong working relationships.
What You Bring
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in denials management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using payer portals to pull denial reports and resubmit claims.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (sort, filter, formulas; VLOOKUP and pivot tables a plus).
- Comfortable working on a Mac with dual monitors.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Tech-savvy and self-motivated.
- HIPAA-compliant home office setup (private room, secure internet).
Preferred:
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Interest in revenue cycle growth and leadership opportunities.
Work Environment
- 100% remote (except in excluded states).
- Part-time hours during training (starting at 8 AM MST for ~4 weeks).
- Full-time hours post-training (start after 7 AM MST, end by 5 PM MST).
- Must provide own equipment: dual monitors, wireless keyboard & mouse compatible with Mac.
Why Join?
- Be part of a mission-driven company revolutionizing type 2 diabetes care.
- Work with a tight-knit, fast-growing team in a high-impact role.
- Enjoy long-term growth opportunities in Revenue Cycle as the company scales.
- Contribute to a healthcare solution that’s employer-funded and patient-focused.
