Job Description
We are seeking an entry-to mid-level Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Georgia. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a small environmental and geotechnical engineering firm. The role is based in our Georgia office with the flexibility to work remotely.
Responsibilities
- Conduct geotechnical engineering evaluations and subsurface explorations.
- Perform special inspections and construction materials testing services.
- Manage projects and prepare or review reports.
- Participate in fieldwork, including sampling events and site visits.
- Facilitate project and budget management.
- Interface with clients and provide technical report writing.
- Prepare proposals and engage in business development.
- Conduct design reviews and analyze various media samples.
- Oversee subcontractors and ensure project efficiency.
Essential Skills
- 2-5 years of experience in the geotechnical engineering industry.
- Proficiency in special inspections and construction materials testing services.
- Experience with project management, including report preparation and review.
- Competence with boring layouts, utility call-ins, and geotechnical reports using GINT software.
- EIT certification is preferred, and a P.E. license is a significant advantage (but neither are strictly required)
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
- Experience with solid waste projects is a plus.
- Experience with structural steel inspections or floor flatness is advantageous.
- Strength in reviewing preliminary writings and proposals.
- Capability to perform fieldwork as needed.
Work Environment
This role involves approximately 75% on-site work, focusing on report writing, project management, client interaction, and technician coordination. The position requires strong communication skills as the engineer will liaise with clients, manage project progress, and report to Sr. engineers. Remote work is possible once the individual is established. The work environment includes a company truck, opportunities for growth into project engineer and management roles, and involvement in notable projects such as the Atlanta Belt Line Project and ATL Hartsfield Jackson Airport. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $40.00/hr.
