Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Project Manager to oversee the pre-construction, pre-planning, and scheduling processes of various construction projects. The ideal candidate will manage budgets, negotiate subcontractor contracts, and ensure the overall profitability and successful completion of projects. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of construction procedures and project management principles.
Responsibilities
- Manage the pre-construction, preplanning, and project scheduling processes.
- Review and approve project budgets, including labor, material, and subcontractors, ensuring budgetary limitations are met.
- Negotiate and create subcontractor contracts with external vendors.
- Oversee project finances, focusing on profitability and cash flow.
- Engage in design conflict resolution in collaboration with engineers and architects.
- Lead strategic planning and manage project submittal, request for information, and change order processes.
- Implement monthly cost reports and accurate cost projections.
- Research and suggest options on construction means, methods, and timelines.
- Recognize and implement change orders as necessary.
- Approve payment of supplier and subcontractor invoices.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, reporting any issues.
- Project, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
- 10-15 years of experience working on mechanical projects in environments such as hospitals, data centers, and laboratories.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Proficiency in construction management, mechanical engineering, and project scheduling.
- Experience with HVAC systems, mechanical design, and piping systems.
- Familiarity with project management software such as AutoBid, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-paced environment.
The position requires working on-site in a job trailer with a team, Monday through Friday, with 10-hour days and occasional weekends based on project demands. During downtime, focus will be on building relationships and business development activities. The company maintains a small-company feel with a strong culture focused on growth and development. Opportunities for advancement are abundant as the company plans to increase its headcount significantly by 2026. Projects include data centers, healthcare facilities, advanced manufacturing, and laboratories. Benefits include a vehicle allowance and gas card, as well as a per diem for travel.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Conyers, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.
