Job Title: Phlebotomist III - Cumming


Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist III is to facilitate various duties related to specimen collection and processing. This includes performing blood draws, labeling and centrifuging specimens, troubleshooting, training, and ensuring smooth workflow. The phlebotomist will be responsible for updating patient information, recording maintenance data, and decontamination procedures, all while adhering to established protocols.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing assigned duties including troubleshooting and training to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Conduct blood draws and label specimens accurately.
  • Centrifuge, record maintenance data, and decontaminate as required.
  • Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand and execute physicians' orders accurately.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling.
  • Package specimens for transport while maintaining integrity.
  • Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and protocols.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4-5 years of experience in phlebotomy.
  • Proficiency in blood draws and venipuncture.
  • Expertise in using straight needles and specimen collection.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • GED or High School diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.

Work Environment

The position is located at in Cumming, GA, working Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM with a one-hour lunch break. The phlebotomist will collaborate with other employees in a professional and supportive environment. The role offers growth opportunities, potentially leading to a site coordinator position.
