Job Title: Structural Designer
Job Description
The Structural Designer will support industrial projects by developing detailed structural steel and concrete foundation designs using Revit. This role focuses on creating safe, efficient, and constructible industrial facility structures while working closely with engineers and other disciplines in a collaborative, office-based design environment that can transition to a hybrid schedule after onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed structural designs and 3D models for industrial projects using Revit.
- Produce and update structural drawings, plans, sections, and details for structural steel and concrete foundations.
- Apply structural design principles to ensure the safety, integrity, and constructability of industrial structures.
- Use structural analysis tools such as RISA to support design decisions and verify structural performance.
- Coordinate with engineers and other design disciplines to integrate structural designs into overall project layouts and models.
- Review design documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards, codes, and best practices.
- Incorporate feedback from project teams and revise designs, models, and drawings as required throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the preparation of documentation for project submissions, permitting, and construction, including drawing packages and supporting calculations.
- Maintain organized project files, models, and drawings in accordance with established company standards and procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards, and best practices within the structural design team.
- Manage multiple design tasks simultaneously and prioritize work to meet project deadlines and milestones.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in an office setting to resolve design issues and support successful project delivery.
Essential Skills
- Strong proficiency in Revit for structural or civil design work, with the ability to model and document structural systems accurately.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience working within design in a civil, structural, engineering, or construction environment.
- Hands-on experience designing concrete foundations for industrial or similar projects.
- Hands-on experience designing structural steel elements and systems for industrial applications.
- Experience in structural design for industrial projects or facilities.
- Ability to use structural analysis software such as RISA to support and validate design decisions.
- Solid understanding of structural design principles and typical industrial facility requirements.
- Ability to interpret, create, and modify technical drawings and construction documents with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in modeling, drafting, and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage multiple design tasks and deliver work on time in a project-driven environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Back ground in structural or civil design within industrial environments.
- Previous design experience within civil, structural, engineering, or construction disciplines.
- Familiarity with integrating structural models into broader project workflows and multidisciplinary models.
- Experience with concrete foundations and structural steel design in industrial settings.
- Previous industrial project experience is a plus.
- Experience with RISA or similar structural analysis software is a strong plus.
- Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and incorporate feedback efficiently.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining models, drawings, and project documentation.
- Willingness to work in an office-based environment with the option for a hybrid schedule after an initial in-office period.
Work Environment
The position begins as a fully in-office role for approximately the first one to two months to support onboarding, training, and close collaboration with the design team. After this initial period, the role can transition to a hybrid schedule. Team members typically work in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and select one additional day on site each week, with flexibility for remote work on other days as appropriate. The work environment is professional and office-based, centered around the use of design and analysis software such as Revit and RISA. The setting supports close collaboration with structural engineers, civil designers, and other design professionals on industrial, project-focused work, with an emphasis on accuracy, coordination, and high-quality deliverables.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Duluth, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
